Tenth Avenue North recently released a song called “I Have This Hope” and I have fallen in love with it. If you haven’t heard this song, I’d like to share the lyrics with you:

As I walk this great unknown questions come and questions go
Was there purpose for the pain? Did I cry these tears in vain?

I don’t want to live in fear. I want to trust that You are near.
Trust Your grace can be seen in both triumph and tragedy.

But sometimes my faith feels thin, like the night will never end.
Will You catch every tear or will You just leave me here?

I have this hope in the depth of my soul
In the flood or the fire You’re with me and You won’t let go

So whatever happens I will not be afraid,
cause You are closer than this breath that I take
You calm the storm when I hear You call my name.
I still believe that one day I’ll see Your face

I have this hope.*

Hope From Where?
Believer, where are you getting your hope from this morning?
– Is it from your bank account and all the money you have sitting there in the bank, waiting against the day of disaster?
– Is it from your spouse and the knowledge that at least you’ve got someone?
– Is it in the fact that you and your family are relatively healthy and nothing really bad has every happened to you?

Or is your hope found in the fact that the Son of God was raised from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, declared to be the Victorious King who conquered sin, death, and the evil one?

From where are you getting your hope?

The Prayer
Believer, may you be blessed with the peace that passes understanding as you put your hope fully and completely in the only One who can handle it. One day your bank account will be empty, accidents, pain, and even death can and will come to us all. But our God is able to reach beyond the grave and has conquered death. In the Lord alone I trust, the Lord alone is my salvation. So, I have this hope.
