Revelation 19:1-2
After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
    for his judgments are true and just;
for he has judged the great prostitute
    who corrupted the earth with her immorality,
and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

In the past I have compared the cross to D-Day.

Now, I would call Revelation 19 V-Day.

For those of you don’t know V day has been used to mean Victory Day during WWII when the Allied forces accepted Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender. While it’s true Japan was still fighting on V Day, everyone knew it was only a matter of time till that battle was won. After 6 years of relentless and horrific fighting, the war in Europe was over.

The cost was terrible;
tens of million were dead;
countries ravaged;
nations despoiled,
but the fighting in Europe was finally done.

The Allies had won and people were free.

Crowds filled the streets, spontaneous parties erupted all over, especially in Great Britain and America. Thousands flooded streets for parades, singing, kissing, dancing, music. It was a massive party. Remember, the war wasn’t completely done, but a major enemy had been vanquished. It was time to celebrate the demise of a terrible belief system and government. So the people rejoiced, rightly so, when Nazi Germany fell.

Revelation 19 gives us a picture of another celebration. Only this time when the great city of Babylon falls. Babylon who has existed from the beginning fighting against God and His people. Babylon, a leader and ruler of the world who keeps people in bondage to sin.

Babylon, who has lead astray so many,
ruined nations,
destroyed untold billions,
and ravaged homes.

Babylon, the great adulterer is thrown completely down, she is destroyed forever.

And the celebration in America and Great Britain for WWII V-Day won’t even be able to compare to the heavenly celebration when God throws down this enemy.

Now, death and Satan are still around in Revelation 19. There is still one massive fight left to happen, but everyone knows it’s only a matter of time till God’s kingdom covers the earth and people are finally free.

So at this moment in Scripture, it is time to rejoice.

Believer, may we never lose our excitement over the coming Victory of our God, especially at this time of year. May we shout it from the heavens, may we yell it on the rooftops, our God reigns! Blessing, Honor, glory and power belong to Him alone, and one day the World will see it. The stars are already singing the Creator’s praises, one day we will get to hear it and join in.
