Name, name, what’s in a name? Well, that depends. If you’re God, then a lot is involved in your name.

For instance:
We are told to repent and be baptized in the Name of Jesus (Acts 2:38)
The Apostles were persecuted for preaching and teaching in the Name of Jesus (Acts 4:18)
Paul and Barnabas were known as men who risked their lives for the Name of our Lord Jesus (Acts 15:25-26)
As the number of believers grew the Name of Jesus was magnified (Acts 19:17)
Even today we can be numbered with those who call on the Name of Jesus (1 Cor 1:1-2)
The Church is encouraged in the Name of our Lord Jesus to be united (1 Cor 1:10)
We have been washed in the Name of our Lord Jesus (1 Cor 6:11)
We have been sanctified in the Name of our Lord Jesus (1 Cor 6:11)
We have been justified in the Name of our Lord Jesus (1 Cor 6:11)
We are to give thanks in all things in the Name of our Lord Jesus (Eph 5:20)
Whatever we do in word or deed is to be done in the Name of our Lord Jesus (Col 3:17)
The Name of our Lord Jesus is to be glorified in us (2 Thess 1:12)

And lastly it is at this Name, the Name of Jesus that every knee will bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue will confess that this Jesus the Messiah is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

What’s in a Name? Well, when you’re God an awe-full lot.

Believer, may you never forget it is in the Name of Jesus that you gather together. We are the body of Christ. He is our head, our Commander, our Lord and Savior. And all this is done to the glory of God our Father. Who’s Name is just as amazing as His Son’s.
