Lately God has been reminding/teaching me of the power of praising Him. I can attest to the fact that praising the Lord can set you free from fear. It can also bring attitude adjustments, peace, hope, joy, lighten the mood, send satan and his angels flying, encourage your emotions… to mention a few other things 🙂
In praising the Lord I mean taking TIME to focus on God and telling Him how awesome He truly is. Thanking Him for all that He has done, and reminding myself of what He’s like. He’s good, faithful, true, loving, noble, right, pure, He’s kind, He’s able, He heals, He cares, He restores, He judges, He is gracious and firm, He is near to the broken hearted, He is all powerful and all knowing. He is good and He is God.
There’s a song that sums things up nicely. It’s by Russ Taft and It’s called “Praise the Lord.” The first verse and chorus are:
When you’re up against a struggle that shatters all your dreams and your hopes have been cruelly crushed by satan’s manifested schemes. And you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fears. Don’t let the faith your standing on seem to disappear – Praise the Lord. He can work through those who praise Him. Praise the Lord. For our God inhabits praise. Praise the Lord and the chains that seem to bind you serve only to remind you that they drop powerless behind you when you praise Him.
Praise the Lord.
