June 6, 1944 – a compilation of Allied forces began a surprise invasion of Normandy during WWII often termed D Day. And although the final victory (when all the fighting was actually done) in that war was to come about a year later, historians agree that the outcome was decided on D Day. From that day on it was only a matter of time till WWII was done and the Allies had won.

2000 years ago on the first day of the week a man named Jesus stepped out of His grave. The Friday previous He had been brutally beaten and crucified. His body then laid to rest in a tomb. The prince of darkness appeared to have won. He had killed the Son of the Living God and maybe he thought it was only a matter of time before he was powerful enough to take heaven by force.

And then the eyes of the dead man opened. His chest began to move again as He breathed deeply. The arms and legs began to stretch, the fingers clench and unclench themselves. You have to wonder what went through satan’s mind as he watched completely unable to do anything about it, as the body of the man called Jesus came back to life. Did he realize even then what that meant for him and for us???

You see that day 2000 years ago as the resurrected Jesus walked the earth has become for believers D Day. We have not seen the final victory. We still see oppression, judgment, sin, despair, hopelessness, and even darkness.

The war between the kingdom of God and the kindgom of satan rages on.

But just as in WWII, no matter what advances the kingdom of satan makes on this planet – the victory has already been won. It is only a matter of time till the Kingdom of God takes by force what has always been His by right.

It’s only a matter of time.

Take comfort and be encouraged by the truth that your victory, God’s victory has already been accomplished. Just as satan was unable to stop Jesus from being resurrected, he is also unable to stop God from winning this war. It is only a matter of time till our faith becomes sight and we see the V Day of the Living God. Satan knows this to be true – may we believe it even more than he does!
