Song of Solomon 2 states “My beloved responded and said to me, ‘Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come along. For behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. The flowers have appeared in the land; the time has arrived for pruning the vines, and the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land. The fig tree has ripened its figs, and the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my darling, beautiful one, and come along!”

Do you know that the God you serve is a lover? As one Bible teacher put it God “is most passionate for a relationship with His people.” In the Bible this covenant that you are in with God is often described in the most intimate of terms, and in fact, one day we will attend the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and His bride – which is you if you are in Christ!

I heard the same Bible teach talk about the feast and event of Passover as a love story. It’s about a God who comes down, breaks in to the cosmos to redeem His people, to bring them in to an intimate covenantal relationship with Himself partly bc of His love for them.

One reason for your salvation is so that you can have intimacy with the God of this universe who loves you deeply and desperately, who is passionate about you. And He wants you to become passionate about Him!

He is a jealous lover who wants your whole heart and nothing less!

Last week I wrote on Communion and how Jesus is standing before you proposing – asking if you will say yes to Him and drink from His cup. For those of us who have truly said yes to Him, now hear His response – Arise My darling! My beautiful one, and come along!
