(sometimes we just need a good reminder about who exactly God is. I know I do at least)
He is the high and Holy One. The Alpha and Omega, Beginning and the End. He is God to the Vanishing point and beyond. Creator, Redeemer, faithful and true. Covenant maker and Covenant keeper. Yhwh, the great I AM, and I will be what I will be.
He is the Pre-existing One, the uncaused cause. The Judge of the whole universe and Lord of all. High King above all high kings (to borrow from CS Lewis). Holy, holy, holy. The Passover Lamb, the Incarnate One, Law maker and grace giver, merciful, just, righteous, faithful to His Covenant promises and His Covenant people.
He is the almighty, the Holy One of Israel, the Vineyard owner, the just judge, the faithful friend. Defender of the poor, the widow, the orphan, protector of the weak and remover of the strong. He breaks down walls, destroys cities, topples king and kingdoms. He builds hearts, strengthens the weak, and gives hope to the hopeless.
He is arrayed in light, surrounded by thunder, heaven is His throne and earth His footstool. He is intimate, closer than a brother, more faithful than a friend, tabernacling among His people, filling them with His Spirit.
He is in-fathomable and indescribable.
He is God.
He is alone. For ages past He dwelt as the Trinity, content, perfect, needing nothing. In ages to come He will dwell with His people, their songs filling His courts with praise. Their prayers filling His throne room with incense, their love for Him over flowing and ever-growing.
He is Creative, artistic, musical, mathematical, and articulate. He is decisive, in control, stronger than strength and mightier than men. The highest heavens cannot contain Him.
He is God.
He is the Savior, the Defender, the Exalted One. He is the One True God, above Him there is no other, besides Him there is nothing else. Life comes from Him and is found only in Him. He is the standard by which all men are judged. The Stone the builders rejected and on it are crushed. He is wisdom to the foolish and foolish to the “wise.” He is beautiful and pure. He is majestic in His holiness and glorious in His splendor. He is great and He is good.
He is God.
And I have yet to come close to describing Him or even realizing how amazing He is. Of all the blessings God has given us – He is the greatest One bc He is God.
