Heb 4:14 “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Creator of the Universe, Lord of all, the one True God who was and is and is to come. Humbly I come in to Your presence and acknowledge that You are God and I most certainly am not. Yet, through the precious blood of Your Son You have brought me in to Covenant with Yourself and have declared me to be Your daughter and have in Your Word said to come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
So Father, I come fully expecting to be heard by You bc we are in great need. Father, we are in need of seeing You high and lifted up, of realizing how holy You are.
Father, we are in need of true sorrow and repentance over our sins. We feel conviction but we turn to guilt and shame and hide our tears.
Holy Spirit come and so fill the places where Your people gather that when conviction comes (and it must come bc we are Your children) let it draw us to our knees before You and before our brothers and sisters. Let it break our hearts that we would weep over the brokenness of our relationship with You. Let us truly see how disgusting sin is in Your sight and may we begin to hate it to.
Father, may we respond to Your conviction with repentance, an acknowledgment of our sin, a change in our behavior, and a true desire to live a holy life before You. And as we repent, Lord God, as we flood rooms with our tears may You delight to respond and flood those same rooms with Your presence.
May we see Your glory and know Your holiness! May we understand if only for a moment that You are God and what that means! May Your Name be hallowed among the nations bc of what happens within Your Church this day.
Holy Spirit we give You full permission to break our hearts, to cause us to weep, to bring us to our knees before the One True God Creator of all. And as we respond obediently and faithfully, may we see the Holy One of Israel His Name be praised forever. Amen
