The birth of Jesus is seen as a sweet and amazing gift. It is considered the inauguration of peace, love, joy, and hope to the world. Finally Jesus is here, the end has come!
And while aspects of this are true, rarely do we think about ALL that was going on with the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
The birth of Jesus fulfilled OT prophecies
The birth of Jesus was the Kingdom of God breaking in to this world in a very real way
The birth of Jesus was The Torah putting on skin
The birth of Jesus was how God became “Emmanuel” God-with-us
The birth of Jesus was a part of the fulfillment of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
The birth of Jesus led to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus which led to the amazing gift of Gentiles being able to be in Covenant with the God of Israel
The birth of Jesus showed the faithfulness of the God of Israel to His people, His Covenant, and His glory
The birth of Jesus began God tabernacling among men
The birth of Jesus was The Word becoming flesh
And I have no doubt, if I understood my Bible better more could be stated about the birth of Jesus.
The birth of Jesus was an amazing event that must have rocked the heavens and shaken the very foundations of the earth. Nothing would ever be the same again bc a little baby was born, placed in a manger, and named Jesus.
Believer, as the years go by may we never get so accustomed to the story that we stop being awed by its reality. Emmanuel – God with us. Jesus – Savior. Messiah/Christ – the Anointed one of God. The Son of God. The Word made flesh. We try to describe it but we run out of words.
What an amazing gift this baby was and is.
